Martin & Co Franchise Partners Complete Strategic Acquisition of Established Exeter Agency

In a significant consolidation move within Exeter's property market, franchise partners Nik and Rosie Davey have completed the acquisition of Cooksleys Estate Agents through their Martin & Co branch. The transaction represents the couple's first major expansion initiative since assuming control of the franchise operation in early 2024.

The comprehensive transaction encompasses Cooksleys' entire lettings management portfolio alongside its sales division, effectively scaling the Martin & Co Exeter operation to double its previous capacity across both service lines.

Following their franchise acquisition, the Daveys have concentrated their efforts on cultivating robust client partnerships while assembling a capable local team positioned to manage the enlarged operational footprint.

Reflecting on the integration period, Nik Davey noted the intensity of establishing operational momentum. "The transition has demanded significant energy as we've worked to understand the business dynamics and forge meaningful connections with our client base," he explained. "Our success to this point is directly attributable to an exceptional team whose dedication has been instrumental in achieving our current position."

The Cooksleys acquisition forms a cornerstone of the franchise's broader territorial expansion strategy, with the ownership team signaling receptiveness to evaluating additional market opportunities as they emerge.

Addressing future growth prospects, Davey emphasized the franchise's appetite for continued expansion. "We're actively interested in scaling our operations further," he stated. "Should we identify acquisition targets that align strategically with our business model and service philosophy, we're prepared to pursue those opportunities."

Penny Sanders, group franchise services director at The Property Franchise Group, characterized the transaction as validation of the franchise model's scalability. "Witnessing Nik and Rosie execute this acquisition so early in their franchise tenure demonstrates both their entrepreneurial capability and the viability of acquisition-led growth strategies," Sanders observed. "This approach enables franchise partners to accelerate market penetration while consolidating their competitive positioning. We're pleased to have facilitated their success throughout this transaction."

Toby Phillips, managing director of Martin & Co, reinforced the network's support for the expansion. "The Exeter team has demonstrated impressive operational execution since assuming control of the branch, and this acquisition exemplifies their strategic vision and commitment to sustainable growth," Phillips stated.

"Achieving scale through acquisition while preserving service quality standards represents precisely the type of strategic development we encourage across our franchise network. We remain committed to supporting their continued market development throughout the Exeter region."
